The database of resolved pseudonyms and codes of Serbian writers was established to facilitate one of the fundamental research tasks for librarians: linking pseudonyms with their corresponding authors.[1]
At its core lies the internal card catalogue of resolved pseudonyms of Serbian writers, housed in the University Library "Svetozar Marković" in Belgrade. During its digitization, advanced technologies were applied not only to enable easy browsing and reading of digital images but also to convert scanned catalogue cards into searchable electronic text, simplifying the search and extraction of valuable information.
The digitized corpus is linked, whenever feasible, with existing records in the CONOR.SR, authority database for personal names, This integration aims to enhance data visibility, enrich the authority files, and contribute to more relevant search results.
Following the structure of the internal catalog of pseudonyms and codes, the digitized material is divided into 37 files. Digitized cards, alphabetically sorted (including 30 letters of the Serbian alphabet plus the letter W), are distributed across 31 files. The remaining 6 files contain material from the seventh box of the internal catalog, comprising a corpus of reference cards related to subsequently resolved anonymous works and pseudonyms represented by numbers, symbols, codes, Greek letters, or letters in the old Cyrillic alphabet.
